How to Design Street Stickers That Get Noticed

A good street sticker is read in about two seconds. People see it while walking past a pole or waiting at a light, so size, contrast and a clean file matter more than fine detail. This guide covers what works on the street and how to set up your file so your stickers print sharp.

1. Pick the right size

• 2 × 2 in: the classic slap size. Easy to carry, easy to place, and the lowest price per sticker.
• 3 × 3 in: readable from a few steps away. A good choice for logos and short names.
• 4 to 5 in: for bold pieces that need to be seen from across the street.
• Long rectangles such as 2 × 8 in: made for names, tags and slogans.

2. Design for distance

• Go big and bold. Thick outlines and large shapes survive distance and weather better than thin lines.
• Use strong contrast. Dark on light or light on dark. Colors that are close in brightness blur together from a few feet away.
• Keep text short. A name, a handle or three to five words. Anything longer won't get read.
• Make text big enough. On a 2 inch sticker, keep letters at least 8 pt tall.

3. Use full color

We print digitally, so photos, gradients and any number of colors cost the same as one color. There are no plates and no charge per color. One thing to know: the white parts of your design are the white of the film, so plan white areas as "no ink".

4. Set up your file

• Formats: JPG, PNG, PDF, SVG, AI or EPS, up to 25 MB.
• Resolution: 300 dpi at the final size. A 2 inch sticker needs at least 600 × 600 pixels.
• Vectors are best: AI, EPS, SVG or PDF files stay sharp at any size.
• Safe zone: keep text and important details at least 1/8 inch away from the edge.
• Die cut: send a PNG with a transparent background or a vector outline. We set up the cut line for you at no extra cost. For die cut stickers, the size you pick is the longest side of your design.

5. Choose the material

• Eggshell stickers break into small flakes when someone tries to peel them. The pick for stickers that should stay up in public.
• High-tack vinyl stickers are tough and flexible with an extra-strong adhesive that grips rough surfaces. Great for merch, packaging and anything that needs to hold up.

6. Order the right quantity

The price per sticker drops as the quantity goes up. For example, 1,000 eggshell stickers at 2 × 2 in cost $288, about 29 cents each, and 10,000 come down to about 12 cents each. Shipping is free, and there are no setup fees or extra costs at checkout.
